By day Sally Snyder monitors clinical trials. New medical treatments
are to be supported by accurate and complete data that is collected
according to laws, regulations and ethical standards.
By night, she looks for entertainment! What to do while watching ACC
basketball and NCIS? Knit! And so the felting projects began. Each
creation is unique due to the wool combinations and embellishments
(ribbon, fun fur, silk, beads, etc). When everyone in my circle had
been gifted a hat and the pile kept growing, I branched out into
bags, laptop cases and…...
When the knitting is complete, the hat goes into the washing machine
so hot water and soap can agitate it into shape. “I love the
science fair project feel of the process, the form changes and the
colors meld.” A
plastic lettuce keeper serves as the mold for the final drying stage
of the hats.
“I learned to knit from Gram a while back.
Then, my knitting needles were in storage for a long time for
sit down time was rare. Those were the days when 4 kids were in and
out of the house! The
kids are out of the house now and sit down time is back!”
“The yarns available today are rich
in color and texture and so diverse. I enjoy the challenge of design
and color selection when creating the hats. “
Care instructions: Wash only in cold water and block to preserve
shape or dry clean.
A
$10 donation to Heifer International www.heifer.org
will be made by Sally for each hat that is purchased in order to
support the world population (human and sheep). "If
there is one thing I could give to the struggling people of the
world, it would be self-reliance. Everyone deserves the dignity of
providing for themselves and their families. That's why I support
Heifner International" - quote from the late Walter Cronkite,
journalist and Heifer supporter.
